The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, understands proper meat-cutting techniques, maintains high standards for quality and food safety, and enjoys helping customers find the perfect cut for any meal. Responsibilities Cut, trim, bone, portion, and prepare a variety of beef, pork, poultry, and other meat products according to company standards. Prepare fresh cuts for both self-service displays and customer requests. Provide custom cuts and special orders based on customer preferences. Safely operate meat department equipment including saws, grinders, slicers, tenderizers, knives, and wrapping equipment. Weigh, wrap, label, price, and merchandise products accurately. Keep meat cases fresh, full, clean, organized, and visually appealing throughout the day. Monitor product quality, freshness, dates, rotation, and proper storage. Follow proper procedures to help minimize shrink and product waste. Maintain clean and sanitary cutting areas, coolers, display cases, equipment, and work surfaces. Follow all company food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures. Receive, organize, and properly store incoming meat products and deliveries. Assist customers with product selections, cooking suggestions, quantities, and special requests. Provide friendly, helpful service and build relationships with our customers. Work closely with the Meat Manager and other department team members to maintain department standards. Assist with additional Meat Department duties as needed. Qualifications Previous meat cutting or butcher experience preferred. Knowledge of meat cuts, trimming, portioning, and preparation techniques. Experience safely operating meat cutting equipment preferred. Strong attention to quality, freshness, presentation, and detail. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast paced environment. Dependable, punctual, and willing to take pride in maintaining a high quality department. Must be at least 18 years of age. Ability to stand for extended periods and work in refrigerated/cooler environments. Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and move meat products and department supplies. Availability to work a flexible retail schedule, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Someone who takes pride in quality cuts, an outstanding meat case, a clean department, and exceptional service. pay depends on experience Provides excellent customer service by assisting in answering questions and creating custom cuts Prepares, cuts and packages all varieties of meat while operating tools safely. Helps to verify and unload meat deliveries from trucks. Fill and rotate product in all meat cases. Creates & maintains specialty meat selections Trains other associates as needed. Cleans equipment. Assists in other duties as assigned.
