Job Summary:
The Sous Chef works alongside Executive Chef to manage daily kitchen activities, including overseeing staff, aiding with menu preparation, ensuring food quality and freshness, and monitoring ordering and stocking. Provides meal quality and consistency by following designated recipes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides guidance to junior kitchen staff members, including, but not limited, to line cooking, food preparation, and dish plating. Design new menu choices based on seasonal ingredients and customer demand. Oversees and organizes kitchen stock and ingredients. Ensures a first-in, first-out food rotation system and verifies all food products are properly dated and organized for quality assurance. Keeps cooking stations stocked, especially before and during prime operation hours. Verifies that food storage units all meet standards and are consistently well-managed. Order and maintain inventory of food and supplies. Make sure all equipment is in good working order, report broken equipment immediately to manager for repair. Be able to work all holidays and scheduled parties after normal hours of operation. Report to work on time and in proper uniform with name tag. Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware. Must complete all assigned training by anniversary date. Perform other duties as assigned by Director. Education and/or
Work Experience Requirements:
Previous restaurant experience and extensive Food and Beverage Knowledge. At least 5 years' experience. Culinary training or, College education, and Serve Safe Certified. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with everyone Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service. Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within supervision. Must be able to work in a team environment.
Physical Requirements:
Cook food in various utensils or grillers. The physical ability to stand and or walk continuously. The physical ability to climb, balance, bend/stoop, and kneel continuously. Must be able to lift and carry up heavy boxes, trays and containers up to 20 pounds.
