Employer will conduct a Skills Test Candidates will prepare sushi rolls, nigiri, and sashimi while evaluating knife skills, presentation, speed, and sanitation Preferred Qualifications Experience working in both sushi and Asian fusion restaurant environments. Creativity in developing specialty rolls and menu items. Knowledge of Japanese ingredients, sauces, and culinary traditions. Bilingual skills are a plus. Position Summary Pha'ya Thai & Sushi is seeking a talented and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The Sushi Chef will be responsible for preparing high-quality sushi, sashimi, rolls, and other Japanese-inspired menu items while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, freshness, presentation, and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate is creative, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering an exceptional dining experience that complements our authentic Thai and Japanese cuisine offerings. Key Responsibilities Prepare and present sushi, sashimi, nigiri, specialty rolls, and other menu items according to established recipes and quality standards. Ensure all fish, seafood, vegetables, rice, and ingredients are properly handled, stored, and rotated. Inspect ingredients daily to ensure freshness and quality. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary sushi station in compliance with local health regulations. Assist in menu development and creation of new sushi specials and seasonal offerings. Monitor inventory levels and communicate purchasing needs to management. Minimize food waste through proper preparation and portion control. Follow all food safety, hygiene, and HACCP guidelines. Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations during service periods. Provide customer service when interacting with guests at the sushi bar. Train and mentor kitchen staff and sushi assistants as needed. Support overall restaurant operations and perform other duties as assigned.
