Groth Dental

Director of First Impressions

Job Description

Director of First Impressions Unreasonable Hospitality

• Premium Private Practice

• Bingham Farms, MI Most practices hire a receptionist. We're building something different — and the person at the front of this practice is the reason patients decide to stay. Groth Dental is a whole-health private practice with 13 years in Bingham Farms and a reputation built on exceptional care and genuine patient relationships. We've been recognized by Hour Magazine as a Top Dentist seven consecutive years. We're growing into a two-doctor practice and we are looking for someone specific to lead our patient experience from the first call to the last goodbye. This is not a receptionist job. We're calling it Director of First Impressions because that's exactly what it is — and because we want someone who hears that title and immediately understands what we're trying to build. If you've ever read about unreasonable hospitality and thought "that's how I naturally operate," keep reading. We are redesigning how our front desk works from the ground up. This role does not exist yet in its full form — you would be the person who helps define it, shape it, and make it exceptional. We want someone who is energized by that, not intimidated by it. What This Role Owns Every new patient phone call. You own the first conversation. You follow a script, you ask the right questions, you build rapport quickly, and you turn that call into a scheduled appointment. Every time. The check-in experience. Every patient is greeted by name. Paperwork confirmed, insurance updated, and they feel expected — not processed. The moment someone walks through the door, the tone is yours to set. The wow moment. This practice should feel different from any dental office a patient has ever been to. The greeting, the environment, the energy — that starts with you. We want patients to notice the difference immediately. The check-out experience. Every patient leaves with their balance collected, their next appointment scheduled, and a genuine personal send-off. The last impression is as important as the first. Online reputation. You follow up after appropriate visits to ensure patients had an exceptional experience and make it easy for them to share it publicly. Patient communication. Pre-appointment reminders, welcome messages, and the warm touches that make this practice feel different from the first interaction forward. What This Job Offers A chance to build, not just fill a seat. We are creating this role intentionally. The person who takes it has real input into what it becomes — the protocols, the language, the standards. That is rare. A team worth joining. Average team tenure is 8+ years. Low drama, high standards, and people who show up for each other. A practice that is growing. We are expanding to a two-doctor practice. The right person here grows with that — there is no ceiling on what this role becomes. Compensation above market. $19-$24/hr based on experience. This role is priced above market because the person we need is above market. Full benefits. Health insurance, PTO, 401(k) with safe harbor, scrub allowance, and CE reimbursement. Who We're Looking For Someone with genuine warmth — not performed warmth. Patients feel the difference and so will we. Someone who is excited to help define this role, not just execute a job description that already exists. Dental front desk or premium hospitality experience preferred. Hotel, high-end retail, medical, or dental — any background where a high-standard client experience is the expectation. Calm under pressure. You never let a difficult moment show up in how you treat the next patient. Organized, fast, and detail-oriented. Multiple things happening simultaneously without anything dropping. Someone who notices when something could be better and says so. How to Apply Send your resume to MorganS@grothdental.com with a short note answering this: Tell us about a time you made someone feel genuinely taken care of — not because it was required, but because it was the right thing to do. What did you do, and what happened? We are not looking for a polished answer. We are looking for someone who has a real one. We read every response personally. Applications without a note will not be reviewed. ■ Please do not apply if you are looking for a standard dental receptionist role. We are building something different here and we need someone who is genuinely excited by that — not just open to it.
