Every Child Bay is an inclusive early childhood program where children with different strengths, abilities, and ways of learning grow together in a caring and welcoming community. We are looking for a warm, dependable, organized, and collaborative Cook & School Support team member who will help make our school feel nourishing, beautiful, and well cared for each day. This role is an important part of our school community. It combines food preparation, kitchen organization, cleaning, and school support , with opportunities to contribute to children's everyday experiences through food, routines, and care for the environment. The ideal candidate enjoys being around young children, takes pride in creating welcoming spaces, values teamwork, and understands that meals, cleanliness, and organization are all part of helping children feel safe, comfortable, and ready to learn. Candidates who have completed Early Childhood Education (ECE) units, especially those who meet or are working toward California preschool teacher or aide qualifications, will receive priority consideration. Because relationships and consistency are very important in early childhood, we hope to find someone interested in growing with our community and making a meaningful, long-term contribution to the school. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESFood Preparation & Kitchen Care Prepare and serve daily meals and snacks in a timely and thoughtful way. Prepare healthy, appealing, and developmentally appropriate food for young children. Follow established menus while thoughtfully accommodating allergies, dietary restrictions, and individual needs. Contribute ideas to menu planning and help create variety and balance in children's meals. Keep track of food and kitchen supplies and communicate what is needed. Purchase groceries and kitchen supplies as assigned while working within the program budget. Receive, label, store, rotate, and organize food and kitchen supplies. Create and maintain a kitchen environment that is clean, organized, functional, and welcoming. Follow safe and appropriate practices for food preparation, storage, reheating, serving, and disposal. Help ensure that food preparation and kitchen routines meet health, safety, licensing, and program standards. Caring for the School Environment Help keep the kitchen, food preparation areas, appliances, dishes, and eating spaces clean and inviting. Sweep, vacuum, and mop school areas as needed. Clean and sanitize bathrooms and frequently touched surfaces. Support classroom organization and cleaning throughout the day. Manage trash and recycling in a timely and organized way. Support laundry and the organization of children's bedding, towels, cleaning cloths, and other materials. Keep track of cleaning and household supplies and communicate when items need to be restocked. Help us maintain a school environment that feels safe, orderly, cared for, and beautiful. Food Experiences & Children's Participation Collaborate with teachers to create simple cooking experiences and food-related projects with children. Invite children to participate in food preparation in safe, meaningful, and developmentally appropriate ways. Work together with teachers to support children with allergies, feeding differences, sensory needs, disabilities, or other individual needs. Notice and share useful observations about children's experiences with food. Support food-related documentation and records as needed. Team & School Community Support Work closely with teachers and administrators to support the smooth rhythm of the school day. Communicate openly about supplies, maintenance needs, health and safety concerns, or anything that may affect daily operations. Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development. Follow school policies, licensing expectations, health and safety practices, and confidentiality guidelines. Offer support with other school needs when appropriate. When qualified and needed, provide additional support in classroom spaces and help strengthen the teaching team.

Pay:

$19.00 - $25.00 per hour Expected hours: 35.0 - 40.0 per week
