The Utility Prep Cook assists the kitchen team with basic food preparation, dishwashing, kitchen cleaning, and general kitchen duties . This is a hands-on support position that helps keep the kitchen organized, clean, and running efficiently. The ideal candidate is dependable, works well as part of a team, is willing to perform a variety of tasks, and takes pride in maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment. Essential Responsibilities Food Preparation Assist cooks and chefs with daily food preparation. Wash, peel, cut, chop, slice, and portion fruits, vegetables, meats, and other ingredients as directed. Prepare ingredients according to recipes and kitchen instructions. Portion and package prepared foods. Label, date, rotate, and properly store food products. Assist with catering and large-volume food preparation as needed. Retrieve ingredients and supplies from coolers, freezers, and storage areas. Help with loading and organizing food and supplies for catering events when needed. Dishwashing & Kitchen Sanitation Wash, rinse, and sanitize pots, pans, utensils, trays, dishes, and other kitchen equipment. Operate and maintain the commercial dishwasher. Keep the dishwashing area clean and organized. Clean and sanitize work surfaces, cutting boards, equipment, floors, and other kitchen areas. Empty trash and recycling and maintain clean trash areas. Follow all food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene requirements. General Kitchen Support Assist cooks and other kitchen staff wherever needed. Put away orders Keep kitchen areas stocked with clean equipment, utensils, and supplies. Put away deliveries and maintain an organized storage area. Help maintain proper inventory rotation using FIFO (First In, First Out). Assist with opening and closing kitchen duties. Perform other duties as assigned by the Chef or Kitchen Manager. Qualifications Previous kitchen, food preparation, restaurant, catering, or dishwashing experience strongly preferred, but not required. Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and food safety procedures. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Reliable and dependable attendance is essential. Must be able to work as part of a team. Willingness to perform a variety of tasks, including food prep, dishwashing, cleaning, and lifting. ServSafe certification is a plus; training may be provided. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to frequently bend, reach, stoop, and lift. Ability to lift and carry boxes, pots, pans, and food products weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to work around hot equipment, water, cleaning products, and kitchen machinery. Must be able to maintain a safe and clean work environment. What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who shows up, works hard, and is willing to help wherever needed . This position is an important part of the kitchen team. Some days may involve more food preparation, while other days may require more dishwashing, cleaning, or general kitchen support. A positive attitude, strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn are more important than having extensive kitchen experience.
Pay:
$17.00 - $19.00 per hour Expected hours: 24.0 - 36.0 per week
