Job Description

Elementary Cook — Laurel Elem (PreK-6) - 7:00 am - 1:30 pm

POSITION OVERVIEW

East Marshall CSD is seeking a reliable and team-oriented Cook for the elementary nutrition program at Laurel Elementary for the 2026-27 school year. Compensation is commensurate with experience.

REQUIRED CREDENTIALS

High school diploma or equivalent Ability to pass a background check as required by Iowa law Reliable attendance and punctuality

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Previous experience in a school nutrition or commercial food service setting — preferred, not required Familiarity with food safety standards and sanitation practices Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment Positive, team-oriented attitude

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

Prepare and serve nutritious meals in accordance with USDA and Iowa school nutrition guidelines Assist with daily kitchen setup, food preparation, and serving Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, surfaces, and serving areas Follow all food safety and handling protocols Assist with inventory, receiving deliveries, and storage as needed Work collaboratively with the nutrition director and kitchen staff Other duties as assigned by the nutrition director or building administration
