The Line Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking menu items according to established recipes and standards while maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient workstation. The ideal candidate works well in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in the quality and presentation of their food, and understands the importance of teamwork and consistency. Key Duties & Responsibilities Assist with stocking, organizing, and setting up kitchen stations before, during, and after service. Prepare ingredients by washing, cleaning, peeling, cutting, chopping, portioning, and properly storing food items. Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, portion guidelines, and the direction of the Head Chef or Sous Chef. Prepare a variety of dishes, including appetizers, entrées, side dishes, desserts, and other menu items as assigned. Maintain consistent quality, taste, temperature, and presentation of all food. Plate and garnish prepared dishes according to the restaurant's standards and the Chef's specifications. Read and understand tickets accurately and ensure orders are prepared correctly and in a timely manner. Work closely and communicate effectively with servers, chefs, and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth service. Communicate any shortages, food quality concerns, equipment issues, or other kitchen needs to management or the Chef. Maintain an organized and fully stocked station throughout service. Properly label, date, rotate, and store food products according to food safety standards. Monitor food levels and assist with preparation and replenishment as needed during service. Follow all food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures in accordance with health department regulations. Keep workstations, counters, cooking equipment, floors, and prep areas clean and sanitary throughout the shift. Wash and sanitize dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment as needed. Properly clean and shut down the assigned station at the end of each shift. Minimize food waste by following proper portioning, preparation, storage, and rotation procedures. Assist with opening and closing duties as assigned. Help maintain a positive, respectful, and team-oriented kitchen environment. Perform other kitchen duties as assigned by the Head Chef, Sous Chef, or management. Qualifications & Expectations Previous line cook, prep cook, or restaurant kitchen experience preferred. Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment. Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and established kitchen procedures. Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality. Ability to communicate and work effectively as part of a team. Reliable, punctual, and willing to take direction. Ability to stand for extended periods and safely handle kitchen equipment, hot surfaces, and food products. Knowledge of proper food safety and sanitation practices. Must be willing to maintain a clean and organized work area at all times.
Pay:
$16.00 - $18.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
