Job Description

Job Overview Join our daycare center as a Dietary Cook dedicated to nourishing young minds and bodies with wholesome, delicious meals! In this vital role, you will prepare nutritious menus, prepare meals, and ensure all food safety standards are followed. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on children's development while honing your culinary skills in a dynamic setting. Duties Plan and develop age-appropriate, balanced menus that meet nutritional guidelines and dietary needs of children Prepare and cook a variety of meals, snacks, and special dietary accommodations using food industry best practices Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. Follow strict food safety and sanitizing procedures to maintain a clean and hazard-free kitchen environment Ensure recipe adherence and portion control during high-volume food production for daily meal service Maintain accurate food handling records, inventory management, and compliance with health regulations in accordance with CACFP standards. Collaborate with staff to coordinate meal schedules. Requirements Proven experience as a dietary aide or cook within a food service or food industry setting, preferably in childcare or daycare environments Strong culinary skills including proficiency in food preparation techniques such as braising, grilling, poaching, and knife skills Knowledge of food safety management practices and sanitizing procedures to prevent contamination Experience operating commercial kitchen equipment safely in high-volume production settings Ability to follow detailed recipes accurately while maintaining efficiency during busy meal times Excellent understanding of dietary requirements for children and experience with menu planning for diverse needs Prior experience in restaurant or catering environments is highly desirable; familiarity with food handling regulations is essential. Must be able to pass all background checks and health requirements required by Missouri State licensing division DESE. Ability and willingness to assist with children when needed by staff.
