Summary of Work We are currently hiring a dependable Cook to prepare nutritious and delicious meals for our residents. The ideal candidate will be passionate about food and ensure meals meet the dietary and nutritional needs of our veterans. This is a 0.75 FTE position, scheduled for 12-hour day shifts, two to three days per week. The anticipated start date for this position is August 2026. As an employee of NDVH, you will be a State of North Dakota employee and eligible for a comprehensive benefits package that includes: 100% employer-paid family health insurance An excellent retirement plan Vacation and sick leave that begin accruing on day one Ten paid holidays each year, and more Duties and Tasks Cook and prepare food following standardized recipes and using proper food handling techniques. Review and know resident diets including texture modification if necessary. Keep households stocked by ordering supplies from main kitchen and stocking fridges and pantries using the FIFO method. Monitor for outdated products and discard as needed. Clean the kitchen area including stoves, ovens, microwaves, fryers, hoods, and all other appliances in the cook area. This also includes washing pots and pans, cleaning floors, delime dish machine, washing counters and taking out garbage. Performs other duties as assigned or needed. Monitor and record food temperatures during cooking, holding, and serving, while maintaining accurate logs for food temps and cleaning to ensure compliance with food safety regulations. Collaborate with dietary staff and nursing staff to ensure residents' dietary needs and preferences are met. Participate in staff meetings and training sessions related to nutrition, safety, or resident care. Support a positive dining experience by maintaining a friendly, respectful attitude toward residents and staff.
