The role requires not just culinary skills but also a compassionate heart and a strong sense of professionalism. The right candidate for the cook position at Help In Crisis must embody 1.

  • : It's important for the cook to be empathetic and understanding towards families experiencing hardship. At the same time, they must be able to maintain healthy boundaries to ensure a professional relationship with the individuals they are serving. 2.

  • : The ideal candidate should be able to effectively manage their time, especially when cooking high quantity meals for a large number of people. This includes planning ahead, multitasking, and staying organized in a fast-paced environment. 3.

  • : Being creative in the kitchen can help keep meals interesting and appealing to those receiving the assistance. A cook who can work with limited resources and still produce delicious and nutritious dishes is invaluable. 4.
  • Driver's License and Transportation
  • : Since Help In Crisis receives donations from multiple area businesses, having a valid driver's license and reliable transportation is essential for the cook to fulfill their duties effectively. 5.

Responsibilities and Duties Duties :
May include but not limited to: Ensure ingredients and final products are fresh Maintain a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, equipment and dishes Handle and store ingredients and food Maintain food safety and sanitation standards Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment and utensils Check the quality and freshness of ingredients Qualifications and Skills Must maintain a nonjudgmental attitude toward participants, and a positive commitment to work with victims/survivors of family violence and sexual assault. Must be willing to work within the guidelines, recommendations and philosophies of the agency. Must have a valid drivers license and food handlers Strong verbal and written communication skills.
