Position Summary At Morningside, our Cooks do more than prepare meals, they create moments of comfort, connection, and joy for the residents who call our communities home. As a Cook, you'll bring your culinary skills and your heart to every dish, from following our standardized recipes to plating each meal with care. This role may also include providing guidance to other kitchen staff.
Available Schedule:
11a - 7p Key Responsibilities 1. Food Preparation & Quality Prepare all food in accordance with the daily menu planner and standardized recipes, in a timely manner. Work the food line during mealtime, ensuring meals are served accurately and on schedule. Plate food in an attractive, appetizing manner, ensuring all condiments and garnishes are prepared and served with the appropriate dishes. Ensure proper food temperature is maintained throughout preparation and service. 2. Sanitation, Safety & Inventory Keep the work area and serving line equipment clean, adhering to established sanitation cleaning schedules. Keep stock rooms, coolers, and freezers clean and organized, ensuring food supplies are rotated and all perishables are labeled, dated, and stored properly. Minimize food waste through proper food storage and recycling techniques. Help maintain a safe working environment through the prevention of accidents and the preservation of equipment. 3. Team & Community Standards May provide guidance and support to other kitchen staff as needed. Bring a positive, professional attitude to interactions with residents, visitors, and fellow team members. Attend required training and stay current with Morningside's standards, policies, and procedures. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and takes pride in preparing meals that bring comfort and joy to residents' daily lives. Education & Experience High School Diploma or GED; or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must obtain and hold any local, state, and/or county required food handling/sanitation licenses or certificates. Skills & Competencies Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen and maintaining pace during meal service. Strong attention to detail in following standardized recipes and presentation standards. Working knowledge of food safety and sanitation best practices. Ability to work well as part of a team and provide guidance to other staff when needed. Positive, professional demeanor with residents, families, and coworkers.
