Company Description Elk Creek Cafe is a locally rooted brewery based in Millheim, Pennsylvania, serving the broader State College area. Role Description The Line Cook is a full-time, on-site position located in in Millheim. This role is responsible for preparing, cooking, and plating menu items according to established recipes, portion standards, and presentation guidelines. Daily tasks include setting up and breaking down stations, maintaining proper food storage and rotation, and ensuring all ingredients are prepped and ready for service. The Line Cook collaborates with the kitchen team to manage ticket flow, uphold food safety and cleanliness standards, and support smooth, efficient service during peak hours. Additional responsibilities may include assisting with inventory, communicating equipment or supply needs, and contributing ideas to improve kitchen operations. Qualifications Culinary skills in basic cooking techniques, knife handling, and station management, with experience in a line cook or similar back-of-house role preferred. Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards, including safe food handling, proper storage, and cleanliness in a commercial kitchen. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tickets, and maintain consistency and quality under pressure. Strong teamwork, communication, and reliability, with a commitment to professionalism, punctuality, and respectful collaboration. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed, and the physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift supplies, and move safely in a busy kitchen. Must be available to work Wednesday - Sunday Interest in local and seasonal ingredients, willingness to learn new recipes and techniques, and openness to feedback and ongoing skill development. Prior restaurant or cafe experience is beneficial; formal culinary training is a plus but not required.
Pay:
$18.00 - $23.00 per hour People with a criminal record are encouraged to apply
