Summary The Lead Line Cook / Front Line Cook is responsible for preparing and executing daily meals while ensuring quality, consistency, and presentation standards are met. This position plays a key role in delivering a positive dining experience for residents by maintaining high culinary standards, supporting food safety compliance, and providing leadership on the line during service. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, and passionate about hospitality and serving seniors and should also have a working knowledge of the complexities of the community and the various layers of day-to-day dining and be willing to help and support community events and activities. They should also be aware of the challenges of navigating inclement weather and the necessary protocols as outlined by the Director.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation & Execution
  • Prepare and cook menu items according to standardized recipes and production schedules.
  • Ensure proper portioning, plating, and presentation.
  • Maintain food quality, taste, and temperature standards and document them using the proper forms as instructed.
  • Follow all therapeutic and modified diet guidelines as directed. Front Line Leadership
  • Lead the line during meal service to ensure timely and accurate order execution.
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen and service team members.
  • Support and guide other line cooks and dietary staff as needed.
  • Step into a leadership role when the Sous Chef or Culinary Director is unavailable. Food Safety & Sanitation
  • Maintain strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and infection control standards.
  • Ensure proper food storage, labeling, and rotation (FIFO).
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation at all times. Inventory & Prep Support
  • Assist with daily prep lists and production planning.
  • Monitor stock levels and communicate supply needs.
  • Support inventory management and waste reduction efforts. Resident Experience
  • Engage respectfully with residents when appropriate.
  • Support special events, themed meals, and community functions.
  • Contribute to creating a warm, hospitality-driven dining environment.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 2+ years of cooking experience; senior living, healthcare, or restaurant experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 40-50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays as needed.

$13.00 - $15.00 per hour
