POSITION SUMMARY

The cook is responsible for preparing all meal items in accordance with the menu, resident preferences, and diets, ensuring quality and safety policies and procedures are adhered to during production.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have a

Ability to read, write and speak the English language, communicate effectively, and carry out verbal and/or written instructions

Must have knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and hygienic methods

Food Safety Manager Certification required to be presented within 30 days of hire

One (1) year of cooking experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. Experience healthcare kitchen setting will be considered.

Must be able to follow recipes, use basic math, and lead the team in Director of Food & Nutrition Services absence

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Prepare all food items according to pre-determined menus, resident diets, and preferences identified on tray cards

Perform daily scheduled cleaning duties in accordance with sanitation, safety, and infection control policies and procedures including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing walls and equipment while wearing personnel protective equipment (PPE) as instructed by the supervisor

Ability to understand and the ordering, receiving, storing, preparing, and serving of food process within the Department of Food & Nutrition Services

Safely utilize equipment; report any equipment needing service or repair immediately

Ensure that all work areas are maintained keeping them clean and safe in accordance with sanitary, safety, and infections control procedures

Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance in accordance with FPACP attendance policy

Promote positive customer service with residents, family members, guests, and team members.

Use appropriate workplace behavior; always adhere to the Department Food & Nutrition Services dress code

Understand that other duties not listed may be required as needed

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Have the ability to safely perform movements such as pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations
