Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dependable and compassionate Cook to join our assisted living team. In this role, you will prepare nutritious, high-quality meals that support the health and well-being of our residents. The ideal candidate is experienced in large-scale meal preparation, understands special dietary needs, and takes pride in maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment. Our residents look forward to mealtime, and you will play an important role in creating a positive dining experience each day. Responsibilities Prepare and cook daily meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks) according to planned menus Follow physician-ordered and therapeutic diets (e.g., low sodium, diabetic, pureed, mechanical soft) Ensure proper food portioning, presentation, and quality Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment Follow all local health department and food safety regulations Monitor food inventory and assist with ordering supplies Properly store food items and label according to safety standards Work collaboratively with dietary staff and caregivers Accommodate residents' food allergies and preferences Assist with special events and holiday meals Requirements Previous cooking experience (healthcare, senior living, or institutional setting preferred) Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards Food Handler's Permit (required or willingness to obtain) Ability to prepare meals for large groups Understanding of special diets and nutrition for seniors preferred Strong organizational and time-management skills Compassionate and respectful attitude toward elderly residents
