You're a Great Fit If You… Have a genuine passion for early childhood education Are reliable, engaging, patient, and thrive in a dynamic classroom Love building relationships with children, families, and your team Are flexible and ready to adapt to the needs of your students and school What You Bring… A high school diploma or equivalent Previous experience as a cook, preferably in a childcare or educational setting A genuine love for children and desire to make a positive impact every day Knowledge of nutrition and dietary requirements for children Ability to plan and prepare meals for large groups Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Flexibility to work hours based on the needs of the school and program Ability to meet Virginia licensing standards and pass a background check Certification in food safety and handling (preferred) Compensation… The hourly rate for this position is between $15.00 - $18.00 per hour. The pay range listed is what we in good faith anticipate offering for this job position. Actual compensation within this range will be determined by several factors, including a candidate's experience, education and training, certifications, geographic location and other relevant organization and business factors. What You'll Do… Develop weekly menus that are nutritious and balanced Keep track of food supplies and place orders as needed, managing kitchen budget effectively Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, adhering to all health and safety regulations Maintain accurate records of food purchases, meal counts, and any dietary restrictions or allergies. Prepare and cook meals and snack according to the planned menu Ensure food is cooked safely and in accordance with sanitation protocols Ensure menus meet dietary requirements Ensure proper storage, handling of food, portion control and dietary needs Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
