General Summary:

This role supports a daily lunchroom program serving up to 400 seniors in the Santa Clarita Valley. The Sanitation Specialist helps keep the kitchen clean, safe, organized, and ready for meal service so guests can enjoy a reliable, welcoming dining experience each day. Our Sanitation Specialist (SS) is responsible for cleaning in the kitchen including washing dishes, utensils, cookware, and the overall sanitation of the culinary department to maintain sanitation standards throughout the culinary department. The SS will also assist the cook(s) with basic food preparation and storage as the FIFO (first in, first out) method as needed, required; providing the highest quality of service at all times; and performing all other responsibilities as directed by the Director of Food Services.

ESSENTIONAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

(include, but not limited to): Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds consistently, occasionally lift and/or move over 50 pounds, and to spend long periods of time on feet. Requires the ability to bend, twist, push, pull and stand to perform normal job functions Frequently immerse hands in water and water diluted with chemical solutions Frequently works with sharp knives, utensils, and hot plates Frequently works in hot environment Able to work independently and as a team member Ability to work early morning as well as holidays Understanding of working with older population Excellent customer service skills

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High-school diploma or GED

• Ability to speak, read, and understand basic workplace instructions, short correspondence, safety procedures, and policy documents related to job safety, efficiency, and communication with clients and coworkers.

• Previous Food Services experience is preferred.
