Job Description Help for Job Description. Opens a new window. Position Overview Southern Charm Bistro is seeking a dependable and hardworking Dishwasher / Prep Cook to support our culinary team. This is a combination position responsible for maintaining a clean, organized dish area while also assisting the kitchen team with daily food preparation. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working in the kitchen, takes pride in cleanliness and organization, and is interested in developing their culinary skills. Key Responsibilities Dishwashing & Kitchen Sanitation Wash, rinse, and sanitize dishes, cookware, utensils, glassware, and kitchen equipment. Keep the dishwashing area clean, organized, and stocked throughout the shift. Properly store clean dishes, cookware, and equipment. Remove trash and maintain designated waste areas. Sweep and mop kitchen and service areas as assigned. Assist with general kitchen cleaning and closing duties. Follow all sanitation, food-safety, and workplace-safety procedures. Food Preparation Assist cooks and chefs with daily prep lists. Wash, peel, chop, slice, and portion vegetables and other ingredients. Prepare basic ingredients and components according to restaurant recipes. Portion ingredients according to established standards. Assist with preparing sauces, dressings, garnishes, batters, and other basic menu components as trained. Label, date, rotate, and properly store prepared foods. Follow FIFO procedures and proper food-storage guidelines. Help stock and organize walk-in coolers, dry storage, and prep areas. Assist with catering and special-event preparation when needed. What We're Looking For Previous restaurant or commercial kitchen experience is preferred but not required. Basic food-preparation or knife skills are a plus. Willingness to learn Southern Charm Bistro recipes and preparation standards. Strong attention to cleanliness and organization. Ability to follow instructions and recipes. Dependable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team. Ability to work efficiently during busy service periods. Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift approximately 40-50 pounds. Must be available for evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as scheduled.
