DISHWASHER / BARBACK

Charter House Grille | Cleveland, Ohio Charter House Grille is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and team-oriented Dishwasher / Barback to support our kitchen and bar operations. This position plays an important role in keeping the restaurant clean, organized, stocked, and running efficiently throughout service.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Dishwasher Duties Wash and sanitize dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment. Maintain a clean and organized dishwashing area throughout the shift. Return clean dishes and equipment to their proper storage locations. Remove trash and replace trash liners as needed. Sweep and mop kitchen, dish, and designated restaurant areas. Assist with cleaning floors, equipment, walls, and other back-of-house areas. Maintain adequate supplies of clean plates, silverware, glassware, and kitchen utensils during service. Follow all sanitation, food-safety, and cleanliness procedures. Assist kitchen staff with basic cleaning and support duties when needed. Barback Duties Keep bartenders stocked with liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, ice, glassware, straws, napkins, and other supplies. Refill ice wells and bar supplies throughout service. Collect, wash, polish, and restock bar glassware. Remove empty bottles, trash, and used glassware from the bar area. Maintain clean and organized coolers, storage areas, and bar stations. Assist with receiving and properly storing beverage deliveries. Monitor inventory during service and notify the bartender or manager when supplies are running low. Help prepare the bar before opening and complete breakdown and cleaning duties at closing. Keep bar floors, mats, sinks, work areas, and service stations clean. Assist bartenders and servers during high-volume periods. Never serve alcoholic beverages unless properly authorized and permitted to do so.

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS

Arrive on time and ready to work for every scheduled shift. Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude. Work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment. Follow instructions from management, bartenders, chefs, and shift leaders. Communicate professionally with coworkers and management. Maintain a strong sense of urgency during busy periods. Complete all assigned opening, closing, and side-work responsibilities. Help maintain cleanliness throughout the entire restaurant when necessary. Be willing to assist wherever needed to support the team.

QUALIFICATIONS

Restaurant experience preferred but not required. Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team. Ability to stand and move for extended periods. Ability to bend, reach, lift, and carry restaurant supplies and equipment. Ability to safely lift approximately 40-50 pounds. Comfortable working around water, cleaning chemicals, kitchen equipment, and wet floors. Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
