Job Description

Job Summary:
The Pool Attendant is responsible for supporting a clean, safe, organized, and welcoming pool environment while providing courteous and professional service to guests. This role helps uphold the property's standards for cleanliness, safety awareness, and guest service by maintaining pool facilities, stocking supplies, arranging seating areas, and proactively assisting guests. Because the pool does not have lifeguards, the Pool Attendant is expected to remain observant, communicate posted pool expectations in a professional manner, and promptly escalate safety concerns, guest issues, or operational needs to the appropriate leader. Primary Responsibilities Proactively greet and engage with guests in a warm, polished, and professional manner while anticipating needs such as towels, seating, and general pool-area assistance. Monitor the pool deck and surrounding areas to ensure they remain clean, organized, safe, and presentable throughout the shift. Communicate posted pool rules and safety expectations courteously. Do not engage in conflict or attempt to resolve escalating situations independently. Notify the appropriate leader, Security, or management immediately when assistance is needed. Maintain cleanliness of the pool deck, lounge areas, restrooms, walkways, and surrounding pool facilities, including removing trash, wiping surfaces, collecting used towels, straightening furniture, and keeping walkways clear and as dry as reasonably possible. Set up, arrange, and maintain lounge chairs, tables, umbrellas, towels, signage, and other pool amenities according to property standards. Distribute clean towels to guests and collect used towels throughout the day, ensuring used towels are placed in the proper collection area. Restock clean towels, towel bins, water stations or guest amenities, pool supplies, and related items as assigned throughout the shift. Complete opening duties, including inspecting the pool deck, arranging furniture, stocking towels and supplies, checking trash and restroom areas, confirming posted signage is visible, and reporting any maintenance or safety concerns before the area opens to guests. Complete closing duties, including collecting used towels, removing trash, returning furniture and umbrellas to the proper setup, securing supplies and equipment, documenting or communicating pass-on items, and reporting unresolved concerns to leadership. Report maintenance issues, unsafe conditions, medical concerns, inclement weather concerns, guest complaints, or operational needs to the appropriate leader immediately. Follow company policies, safety standards, weather procedures, and operational guidelines at all times. Maintain a professional appearance and uphold the service standards of World Equestrian Center and Columbus Hospitality Management. Support overall resort and hotel operations by assisting with related duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous guest service, hospitality, recreation, pool, or resort experience preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with guests and team members. Ability to remain calm, professional, and service-fcused in a guest-facing environment. Ability to work independently, follow direction, and support team needs during busy periods. Basic knowledge of cleanliness, safety awareness, and guest service practices preferred. Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and a flexible schedule based on business needs. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift. Must be able to work outdoors for extended periods in Florida heat, humidity, sun exposure, rain, and changing weather conditions. Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds, including towels, supplies, trash, and pool-area items. Must be able to bend, reach, stoop, and move throughout the pool deck, restrooms, storage areas, lobby, spa, and operational areas as needed. Must be able to work around wet surfaces, outdoor elements, pool-area noise, cleaning products, and regular guest and team interaction. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a professional and guest-focused demeanor. Safety and Role Clarity Pool Attendants are not lifeguards and are not expected to perform lifeguard duties. This position supports safety awareness, cleanliness, guest communication, and prompt escalation of concerns. Any emergency, unsafe condition, rule concern, or guest conflict must be reported immediately.
