Hire A Host

Senior Event Planner

Job Description

Senior Event Planner Are you an experienced event professional who knows how to take a client's vision and turn it into a flawless celebration? Do you love the energy of off-site events, leading a dedicated team, and helping clients actually "enjoy their own party"? At Hire A Host , we've been helping the Twin Cities celebrate for nearly 30 years. We are known for bringing total flexibility to event planning—whether that means curating custom catering from top local chefs and restaurants, providing full-service licensed bar execution, or coordinating staff and rentals from the ground up. We are looking for an experienced Senior Event Planner to take the lead on our larger events, build strong client relationships, and help guide our team. This is a key leadership role for someone who brings a solid understanding of food and beverage service, loves working out event logistics, and feels comfortable guiding clients through sales and choices. What you'll be doing: Your week will be a mix of meeting with clients, coordinating logistics, and leading execution on-site.
Your responsibilities include:
Client Collaboration & Sales:
Act as a single dedicated specialist for our clients. You'll learn their vision, walk them through custom catering and bar options, set realistic budgets, and articulate the value of our full-service support to turn inquiries into confirmed bookings.
Planning & Organization:
Handle the event details from initial concept to final cleanup. You'll design floor plans, manage timelines, and organize internal staffing, liquor setups, and rental equipment.
On-Site Event Captain:
Lead from the front on event days. You'll manage our on-site hosts, bartenders, and staff (sometimes teams of up to 25) to ensure service, guest flow, and hospitality standards run smoothly. The "Jumping In"
Mindset:
We are a close-knit team and we all work together. While your main focus is high-level planning, you are always ready to step in—whether that means helping set up a bar station, running plates during a rush, or solving an unexpected venue challenge on the fly.
Team Leadership:
Serve as a supportive lead for our office staff and event crew, fostering an environment where everyone feels encouraged and prepared to do great work. What we're looking for: 3-5+ years of event planning experience , ideally with off-site catering, hospitality, or high-volume event execution. A strong foundation in food and beverage service. You understand how banquet service flows, how bar service operates, and how to help clients curate a great food experience. Natural relationship skills. You are warm, professional, and comfortable discussing budgets, pricing, and event details with clients. Unshakeable problem-solving. You stay calm under pressure, anticipate challenges, and handle logistics with quiet confidence. Schedule flexibility. Availability to work evenings and weekends based on our event calendar. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Essential for traveling to off-site venues and event spaces across the Twin Cities.
What we offer:
Competitive Salary + Performance Incentives based on experience. Health Benefits to support your overall well-being. Work/Life Balance & Flexibility. Peak event seasons are busy, but we prioritize flexibility and rest so our team stays energized. A Supportive Culture. Join a friendly team that takes pride in high standards and truly enjoys the work we do.
