JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Your working location will be a hybrid of on-site/work from home, project-dependent, located in State College, PA. Typical working hours are Monday through Friday with flexibility, averaging 15-20 hours/week. Additional hours may be required prior to the fall and spring semesters. We are seeking a self-motivated, positive, customer-focused, and quality conscious person to join our Human Resources (HR) team at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State. In this role, you will be a key player in coordinating, organizing, and supporting career events, including virtual and hybrid locations. ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.

You will:

Register, manage, assist, and participate in the delivery of in-person and virtual professional career events, conferences, symposiums, and other events, including packing and unpacking event kits

Register, manage, assist, and participate in the delivery of in-person and virtual college and university student career events, seminars, symposiums, and themed events, including packing and unpacking event kits

Maintain inventory and order event supplies, ensuring ARL is fiscally conscious; research, obtain quotes, purchase, and/or recommend materials, equipment, and giveaways following ARL and Penn State policies and guidelines

Act as point of contact, supporting updates and maintenance of ARL's talent acquisition software, Yello

Assist the ARL Talent Acquisition team in other areas of the recruiting and hiring process Typical requirements include a High School diploma or higher; 2+ years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required skills/experience areas include:

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)

Success in a collaborative environment, where various forms of communication and organizational skills were crucial to be effective

Demonstrated ability to work through/troubleshoot difficult problems, using proper steps to define and formulate ideas to reach a solution

Past experience successfully handling multiple projects Preferred skills/experience areas include: Career event planning practices and timeline management ARL's purpose is to research and develop innovative solutions to challenging scientific, engineering, and technology problems in support of the Navy, the Intel Community (IC), and other federal government customers.
