POSITION SUMMARY
The Operations Manager is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, functional, and event-ready Legends Event Center. This position supervises the day-to-day maintenance, cleaning, organization, and upkeep of the facility while also creating event layouts and coordinating the execution of event setup and tear-down. The Operations Manager works closely with the Sports Department and Special Events Department to provide operational support for tournaments, programs, meetings, parties, and other events. The position serves as Manager on Duty (MOD) for assigned events and shifts, supports a consistent guest experience, and leads the Operations team in delivering reliable, timely, and high-quality facility and event services.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING
Facility Operations, Maintenance, and Upkeep Supervise the daily maintenance, cleaning, organization, and general upkeep of the facility, including courts, meeting spaces, restrooms, hospitality areas, common areas, storage areas, and service spaces. Establish and maintain daily opening, closing, inspection, cleaning, and facility-readiness checklists. Coordinate routine and preventive maintenance for building systems, equipment, fixtures, furnishings, and operational assets. Identify facility issues, prioritize corrective actions, and coordinate timely repairs or service calls. Monitor the condition and presentation of the facility and ensure deficiencies are addressed before they affect guests, programs, or events. Maintain appropriate inventory levels of cleaning supplies, maintenance materials, tools, equipment, and other operational supplies. Coordinate with vendors and contracted service providers as directed by the Assistant General Manager of Operations. Ensure proper storage, labeling, use, and security of facility equipment and supplies. Assist with emergency response, incident documentation, and facility recovery as needed. Event Layouts and Event Execution Create event layouts, room plans, court configurations, equipment plans, signage plans, and other operational diagrams based on event requirements. Review event needs with the appropriate department leaders and confirm that layouts are accurate, practical, safe, and aligned with facility standards. Develop event setup and tear-down plans, timelines, staffing assignments, and checklists. Coordinate and oversee the setup, changeover, reset, and tear-down of sports and non-sports events. Ensure tables, chairs, barricades, bleachers, stanchions, signage, equipment, flooring, and other event assets are placed correctly and safely. Conduct pre-event facility inspections and confirm that spaces are event-ready before guests, teams, clients, or event partners arrive. Support event opening and closing procedures, including post-event inspections and documentation of damage, maintenance needs, or missing equipment. Adjust layouts and operational plans as event conditions change while maintaining safety, service, and schedule expectations. Cross-Department Event Support Coordinate with the Sports Department to support tournaments, leagues, camps, clinics, court conversions, changeovers, and other sports programming. Coordinate with the Special Events Department to support meetings, parties, banquets, trade shows, community events, and other special events. Participate in event planning meetings and communicate operational requirements, timelines, staffing needs, facility constraints, and setup details. Serve as an operational point of contact during assigned events and help resolve facility, setup, staffing, or guest-service issues. Provide MOD coverage for assigned events, evenings, weekends, holidays, and other high-volume operating periods. Lend support to other departments and operational leaders when needed to ensure successful facility and event execution. Team Leadership and Administration Hire, train, schedule, supervise, and motivate the Operations team within approved staffing plans and company procedures. Provide clear direction, coaching, performance feedback, and accountability to one full-time direct report and additional part-time team members. Assign daily work, event responsibilities, inspections, cleaning tasks, maintenance follow-up, and setup/tear-down assignments. Train team members on facility standards, safe equipment handling, cleaning procedures, event layouts, setup and tear-down expectations, and emergency protocols. Monitor timekeeping, attendance, productivity, and completion of assigned work. Maintain accurate records, checklists, work orders, supply requests, incident reports, and event documentation. Communicate status updates, operational concerns, and recommended improvements to the Assistant General Manager of Operations. Participate in staff meetings, event debriefs, operational planning, and continuous-improvement initiatives. Safety, Service, and Compliance Promote a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming environment for guests, participants, clients, staff, and partners. Ensure team members understand and follow company policies, facility procedures, safety standards, and applicable health and sanitation requirements. Identify and correct hazards, unsafe conditions, housekeeping deficiencies, and equipment concerns promptly. Support the facility's emergency action plans, incident reporting processes, and risk-management procedures. Maintain a professional, service-oriented presence while serving as MOD and representing Legends Event Center during assigned events. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Three to five years of experience in facility operations, event operations, maintenance, custodial services, sports operations, hospitality, or a related field; supervisory experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to coordinate event setup, tear-down, facility changeovers, layouts, and operational timelines. Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills. Ability to supervise, coach, and motivate full-time and part-time team members. Ability to work effectively with sports, special events, maintenance, guest services, and other departments. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; ability to learn facility scheduling, work-order, and event-management systems. Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification or willingness to obtain certification within a specified period of employment. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and event-based hours. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in facility management, sports management, hospitality, business, or a related field preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to lift 50 pounds waist high May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time whether indoors or outdoors, and squat, stoop, or bend May work around cleaning chemicals, maintenance equipment, intermittent noise, and active sports or event environments. May work indoors and outdoors and be exposed to varying temperatures and weather conditions while supporting facility operations. Must be able to operate a computer and use mobile or handheld devices for communication, documentation, and task completion.
