North Stonington, Connecticut Start Date:
September 2026 Greystone Winery is preparing to open its doors atop Everbreeze Hill in North Stonington, Connecticut. Our state-of-the-art winery is nearly complete, with our tasting room and event venue opening soon. Surrounded by 200 scenic acres with sweeping views toward the Connecticut coastline, the Estate currently includes 30 acres planted to Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Traminette, Chardonnay, Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch and Cabernet Franc, with further vineyard expansion planned. In addition to our Connecticut Estate wines, we also produce wines from Sonoma County, California, creating a unique winemaking program that spans two coasts. We are seeking a passionate and driven Assistant Winemaker to join our team full-time beginning September 2026. This is an exceptional opportunity to help shape a new winery from the ground up and play a key role in its long-term success. Working across all aspects of winery operations, the Assistant Winemaker will enjoy a high level of responsibility and autonomy while collaborating closely with our Director of Winemaking, who is based in California and will be onsite in Connecticut intermittently throughout the year. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • All aspects of harvest, including destemming, pressing, cap management, fermentation monitoring and draining.
  • Cellar operations, including topping, racking, barrel washing and filling, wine additions and cleaning.
  • Forklift operation.
  • Equipment and facility maintenance.
  • Cellar organization, including tanks, barrels, cased goods and winery supplies.
  • Bottling line setup, operation, sanitation and quality control.
  • Lab management and analysis.
  • Record keeping & creation and maintenance of SOP's and checklists.
  • Execution and evaluation of blending and laboratory trials alongside Founders and Director of Winemaking.
  • Hospitality assistance with tastings and events.
  • Shipping and receiving, including packing wine orders and receiving supplies.
  • Support for vineyard operations when needed, including pruning, canopy management, monitoring, and harvest.
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A genuine passion for wine and winemaking.
  • Coursework in Viticulture & Enology, or a science related field.
  • Previous harvest and cellar experience.
  • Forklift experience.
  • The ability to work flexible hours, particularly during the busy harvest season in September and October.
  • A strong work ethic, positive attitude and an eagerness to learn.
  • The ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
  • The ability to work independently while maintaining excellent communication and attention to detail.
