full-time Theatre Staff Part-Time | Greenport, NY About Us The North Fork Arts Center (NFAC) is a nonprofit arts organization dedicated to bringing high-quality cultural programming to our community. From theatrical performances and film screenings to author talks and live concerts, NFAC is a hub of creativity and connection on the North Fork. We are a small, passionate team that relies on the dedication of our staff and volunteers to deliver exceptional experiences to every guest who walks through our doors. Position Overview We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, and detail-oriented individual to join our theater staff. In this role, you will be the face of NFAC, welcoming guests, selling tickets, operating our concession stand, maintaining a clean and comfortable environment, and ensuring that every aspect of the patron experience reflects the warmth and professionalism of our organization. This is a hands-on, active position that requires someone who takes pride in their work and thrives in a fast-paced, community-focused setting. Key Responsibilities Concession Operations Operate the concession stand, including popcorn machine, soda fountain, and candy display Count the cash drawer at the start of each shift and maintain accurate sales records Restock all concession items - candy, cups, lids, popcorn bags, napkins, straws, ice, popcorn seed, oil, and Flavacol - at the beginning of and throughout each shift Pop popcorn 30 minutes before the first screening Check and replenish soda syrup boxes as needed Empty, clean, and properly store the popcorn machine at the end of each shift Conduct daily visual inventory checks; perform a full inventory count at the end of each month Fill soda ice container with ice Facility & Cleaning Clean and prepare all public spaces at the start of each shift, including the lobby, art gallery, café, and theaters Clean front doors, all surfaces, counters, and trash cans of fingerprints and smudges Sweep and vacuum all public spaces, including the lobby, art gallery, hallway, and all theaters Consistently monitor the temperature in lobby, theatres, and art gallery to ensure guest comfort Check all three bathrooms regularly for cleanliness; restock toilet paper, soap, and paper towels as needed. Notify management if running low on supplies Perform a thorough end-of-shift bathroom cleaning of all bathrooms, including: wiping down all surfaces (sinks, toilets, doors, mirrors, and trash cans) with cleaning spray and cloths; sweeping and mopping all bathroom floors with water and disinfectant; refilling all toilet paper dispensers; and emptying sanitary napkin disposal units and trash Empty and reline all trash bags at the end of every shift, regardless of how full they are Theatere Operations Turn over theaters between screenings in a timely fashion Perform a deep clean of all theaters after the final show each evening Place candle lights and lamps in the café before events Check and replace batteries in candle lights and flashlights as needed; ensure all lamps are fully charged General Greet and assist patrons in a friendly and professional manner Notify the Concessions Slack channel when any cleaning or concession supplies are running low, specifying exactly what is needed Follow all organizational policies and procedures Perform other duties as assigned by management Qualifications Previous experience in a customer-facing role preferred; theater, restaurant, hospitality, or retail experience a plus Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision Strong attention to detail and a genuine commitment to cleanliness and presentation Comfortable working evenings and weekends A positive, team-oriented attitude and a love for the arts is a big plus Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform light physical tasks Hours & Compensation This is a part-time, hourly position. Shifts are primarily scheduled on evenings and weekends, with occasional morning shifts for our workshops, all aligned with NFAC's programming calendar. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
