Job Description

Welcome members and guests with a warm, professional, and courteous greeting upon arrival. Manage reservations, waitlists, and seating assignments to maximize dining room efficiency while maintaining member preferences. Escort members and guests to their tables and present menus when appropriate. Communicate seating arrangements and table status with servers and management to ensure smooth service. Answer telephone calls professionally, assist with dining reservations, and respond to member inquiries. Maintain an organized host stand, reservation system, and dining room seating chart. Monitor the flow of the dining room and adjust seating assignments as needed to support efficient service. Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the entrance, lobby, and host station. Support servers by assisting with table resets, menu distribution, and member requests when needed. Coordinate seating and guest arrivals for private events, banquets, tournaments, and special club functions. Address member concerns promptly and communicate issues to management when appropriate. Uphold the club's standards of hospitality, professionalism, and member confidentiality. Perform opening, side work, and closing duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous host/hostess, customer service, or hospitality experience preferred; private club or fine dining experience is a plus. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. Friendly, outgoing, and professional demeanor with a strong commitment to member service. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to multitask and remain composed in a fast-paced environment. Basic computer skills and familiarity with reservation or point-of-sale (POS) systems preferred. Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented. Professional appearance consistent with the standards of a private country club. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift. Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Frequent walking, reaching, bending, and light lifting. Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special club events. Work Environment This position is based in a professional private country club setting where exceptional hospitality and personalized member service are the highest priorities. The Host/Hostess is expected to create a positive first impression, maintain a welcoming atmosphere, and work collaboratively with the Food & Beverage team to deliver outstanding dining experiences.
