ChuckTown Activities

Axe Throwing/Activities Host

Entry-Level JobVerifiedNo experience needed

Job Description

Some jobs want you to keep your head down and not talk too much, but this is the opposite of that job! At ChuckTown Activities, groups walk in ready to compete! Birthday crews, coworkers who have never seen each other outside an office, families, couples, tourists who just got rained out of their beach day. They take on Wipeout Arena, Floor Is Lava, Basketball Connect 4, axe throwing and ninja stars, or mini golf that fights back! Your job is to make sure they leave loud, happy, and arguing about who actually won! What you're actually doing all shift You check people in, take payment, and get waivers signed. Then you walk your group over and get them started, whether that's a safety briefing for axe throwing or a quick rundown on how one of the other challenges works. After that, the games mostly run themselves, so you're back up front for the next group, answering questions, resetting zones, and keeping an eye on the floor. The whole thing hinges on those first few minutes. A group that gets a boring explanation has an okay hour. A group that gets you has a great one! You are part host, part safety instructor, part first impression. Mostly you're the reason a decent night becomes a great one! You'll probably love this job if You've hosted, coached, taught, camp-counseled, waited tables, or run a team huddle and liked it You can teach a nine year old and their grandmother the same game in the same breath You'll probably hate this job if You want headphones in and no eye contact Loud groups drain you You'd rather be behind a counter than in front of people Sitting down is a core requirement of your ideal job (No shade at all if that's you. That job exists. It's just not this one.) The unglamorous truth You'll be on your feet the whole shift. You'll say the same axe throwing safety speech more times than you can count, and it has to sound fresh every single time. You'll clean. You'll have nights where three groups arrive at once and you have to keep all of them happy. Weekends and evenings are when we're busiest, so that's when we need you. (If that sounds good, keep reading.) What we need from you Show up on time. Groups are booked and waiting. Bring energy, even when you'd rather not Stay friendly when a group is loud, late, or annoyed Be 18 or older That's mostly it. Zero experience with our activities required. We teach you every station. We can teach games, we cannot teach personality. Why it's a good gig Indoors and air conditioned Flexible part-time hours that work around school or another job Staff discounts No two shifts are the same, because no two groups are the same You will have stories. So many stories.
