Job Description

Position Overview The Geiser Grand Hotel is seeking a high-energy, hospitality-driven Front Desk Manager to lead our front office team and set the tone for every guest experience. This is not an administrative desk role. This is a visible leadership position at the heart of a historic luxury property. You will drive service standards, inspire performance, resolve guest challenges decisively, and ensure that every arrival and departure reflects the elegance and warmth of the Geiser Grand. You will work in close partnership with — and enjoy the support of — an experienced General Manager, while maintaining direct responsibility for front office leadership and daily execution. As the hotel enters a new chapter, ownership is transitioning leadership to the management team. This is a unique opportunity to be part of that evolution — to help shape the future direction of the property, influence service culture, and play a meaningful role in stewarding one of Eastern Oregon's landmark historic hotels into its next era. This is more than a management job. It is a leadership platform during a pivotal transition.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Experience Leadership Lead by example in delivering elevated, gracious hospitality Personally welcome VIPs, repeat guests, and special-occasion visitors Resolve guest concerns immediately and professionally Ensure seamless, polished check-in and check-out experiences Maintain luxury-level presentation standards in the lobby and front desk Team Leadership & Culture Recruit, train, and mentor front desk associates Establish a high-performance, accountability-driven service culture Coach staff on upselling, guest engagement, and problem resolution Prepare and manage schedules to ensure strong coverage Hold team members to Geiser Grand standards of professionalism Operational Excellence Oversee reservations, room assignments, and guest communications Monitor rate integrity, occupancy strategy, and revenue opportunities Coordinate closely with housekeeping, maintenance, and restaurant teams Ensure accurate cash handling and shift reconciliation Maintain strong working knowledge of our PMS and related systems Revenue & Reputation Train staff to confidently upsell room categories and amenities Support group arrivals and special events Assist in monitoring and responding to guest reviews Protect and enhance the historic brand reputation of the Geiser Grand Hotel Work Expectations This is a full-time leadership role requiring schedule flexibility and consistent on-property presence. Evening, weekend, and holiday availability is required. Work weeks exceeding 40 hours are expected , particularly during peak seasons, special events, staffing transitions, and high-occupancy periods. This is a working manager role — you will be on the floor, actively engaged with guests and your team.
Compensation Salary range:
$45,000 - $70,000 annually , depending on experience and demonstrated leadership capability Performance-based bonus opportunities tied to service standards, revenue metrics, and team performance Paid time off Opportunity for advancement as the management team assumes expanded leadership responsibility. Relocation Assistance is available to Qualified Candidates and must be agreed upon prior to start date. Compensation reflects the expectations of a hands-on leadership role in a high-touch, historically significant property. Qualifications Prior hotel front desk leadership or hospitality management experience required Strong guest-service orientation with confident decision-making ability High emotional intelligence and professional presence Experience with hotel property management systems Excellent communication and organizational skills Ability to lead calmly and effectively under pressure
