Agency Dept of Health and Human Services Division Murdoch Developmental Center Job Classification Title Housekeeping Manager (NS) Position Number 60050668 Grade NC12 About Us The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest, most complex agencies in the state, and has approximately 17,000 employees. It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence. Description of Work The primary purpose of this position is to plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operations of the Environmental Services Department composed of 73 employees who are assigned to multi-departments (Housekeeping Department, Pest Control Department, Laundry/Linen Department, Sewing Department, and Campus Clothing Store) in accordance with Federal, State, and local standards/guidelines governing Murdoch Center, to assure that the Center is maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable, and sanitized. This position develops and updates environmental policies/procedures; maintains/develops departmental budgets, cost reports, quality assurance standards; assures adequate inventory of departmental supplies/equipment. ALL employees of Murdoch Center are designated as
ESSENTIAL
for adverse weather and emergency events.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Recruitment Range:
$47,703.00 - $83,479.00 This is an anticipated Vacancy Must possess leadership ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with all levels of the organization. Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures of internal and regulatory authorities. Must be knowledgeable of housekeeping, pest control, sewing, laundry/linen practices and procedures as well as the laws regulations and guidelines governing these functions in long term care facilities. Normal Work Hours are Monday - Friday 6:00a.m. - 3:00p.m. Physical Requirements (if applicable) The ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution with major emphasis on coursework in business administration or other related field, and two years of supervisory experience in housekeeping; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
