PRN Environmental Services - Linen Worker
Job Description
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Laundry Technician to join our Environmental Services team. This position is responsible for collecting, processing, and distributing hospital linens while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, infection prevention, and quality. The Laundry Technician plays a vital role in supporting patient care by ensuring an adequate supply of clean linens throughout the facility. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Collect, sort, wash, dry, fold, and distribute hospital linens, including: Bedding Patient gowns Bathroom linens Cloth masks Patient room curtains Cleaning rags and mops Follow all established infection prevention and safety procedures when handling soiled and infectious linens. Sort linens by category and identify stains for appropriate treatment. Weigh and accurately document linen by department. Operate commercial washers, dryers, and other laundry equipment safely and efficiently. Handle laundry chemicals in accordance with safety guidelines and manufacturer instructions. Inspect linens for cleanliness and quality before processing and distribution. Dry linens using appropriate temperatures based on fabric type. Maintain clean linen integrity by following proper hygiene practices, including handwashing, wearing clean clothing, using hair restraints, and preventing contamination. Fold, organize, and stock clean linens according to established par levels. Monitor linen inventory to prevent shortages or overstocking while maintaining clean storage areas. Report equipment malfunctions and safety concerns promptly through the maintenance work order system. Assist in Housekeeping duties during staffing shortages or as assigned. Follow written and verbal instructions and maintain a safe, organized work environment. Qualifications Required Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently. Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds. Preferred High school diploma or GED. Previous commercial laundry experience, preferably in a healthcare setting. Physical Requirements This position requires frequent walking, prolonged standing, bending, stooping, reaching, and repetitive hand movements throughout the workday. The successful candidate must have full manual dexterity and a full range of motion to safely operate commercial laundry equipment and process linens.
