Highway I-71 Rest Area We are seeking a proactive and dedicated Caretaker to maintain the cleanliness, safety, and overall upkeep of our facilities. This vital role involves ensuring that all areas are kept in pristine condition, adhering to safety protocols, and providing excellent service to staff and visitors alike. The Caretaker will be responsible for performing a variety of custodial and maintenance tasks, contributing to a welcoming and safe environment for everyone. Duties Perform comprehensive cleaning duties across all facility areas, including floors, restrooms, offices, and common spaces using appropriate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers and scrubbers. Handle custodial responsibilities with precision, including waste disposal, sanitation procedures, and disinfecting surfaces to meet health standards. Operate cleaning machinery safely and efficiently, ensuring proper use of chemical agents while following chemical handling safety procedures. Conduct routine facilities maintenance tasks such as minor repairs, painting (residential or industrial), and upkeep of fixtures to ensure optimal functioning of the premises. Assist with heavy lifting and manual handling tasks related to moving furniture, equipment, or supplies while practicing safe lifting techniques. Maintain detailed records of cleaning schedules, maintenance activities, and safety inspections in accordance with safety protocol adherence. Support general porter duties including loading/unloading supplies, maintaining cleanliness in storage areas, and assisting with special projects as needed. Skills Proven experience in cleaning, janitorial services, or custodial roles with knowledge of commercial or industrial cleaning standards. Strong understanding of sanitation practices and proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while following safe lifting practices; manual handling skills are essential. Excellent customer service skills to interact professionally with staff, visitors, and contractors. Familiarity with facilities maintenance tasks such as minor repairs and painting; experience with floor care including buffing and floor polishing is preferred. Knowledge of safety protocols related to chemical handling safety procedures and general workplace safety standards. Ability to operate various cleaning machinery like floor buffers and industrial cleaning equipment efficiently.
