SUMMARY:

Maintain a clean and neat school facility and grounds for students, teachers, staff and members of the community in order to protect their health and safety.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Clean designated spaces, equipment and materials Perform room and equipment set-up and breakdown for activities and events Perform seasonal athletic fields and general grounds work Perform general labor functions including unloading bulk material from trucks Maintain building and grounds security Report building, grounds, and equipment conditions that may need remedied or repaired Participate in fire and emergency drills, know emergency procedures and the location and use of first-aid and fire fighting equipment Move furniture and equipment Assists visitors utilizing the facilities Responsible for the preservation and maintenance of assigned tools and equipment, as well as assist in the repair of equipment and facilities Operate various floor equipment, including battery-powered auto-scrubbers/buffers and high-speed/high torque propane burnishers Perform snow-removal, both operation of fuel-powered snow removal equipment and manual removal using shovel Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Minimum of one (1) year work experience as a custodian and/or groundskeeper, preferred. High School diploma or GED certificate, required. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, students, staff, administrators and community members. Exhibit effective communication skills. Being proper stewards of district property, materials and equipment. Work with a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. Ability to perform duties with an awareness of all inspection regulations, safety codes and district requirements and school board policies. Ability to push, pull and carry a minimum of 50 lbs Must have a valid state driver's license, with reliable transportation to travel between different district buildings on assigned shift. • Successful candidate will be required to take post-offer; pre-employment drug test and work capacity evaluation ("WCE"). The WCE includes various physical attributes including push, pull, lift and carry. •Note to staff members in the head custodian and custodian classification: In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, any custodial staff member interested in this position or any subsequent vacant positions must submit an application for this posting.
