JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for general kitchen duties as it relates to the distribution of meals to the Early Learning Division classrooms. The Kitchen Aide also ensures that the kitchen and food handling areas are organized, clean, safe, sanitary and meets all applicable health standards.
CHILDREN SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITY
Responsible for child supervision and for keeping children safe.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Receives deliveries of food and meals from the caterer. Responsible for accurate meal count. Monitors food temperatures and records on temperature log. Ensure that all sanitation practices are followed. Deliver and retrieve meal carts to/from classrooms. Attend and participate in training and workshops. Responsible for setting up for all meals/snacks. Track and assist in ordering supplies. Ensure that the main kitchen operation needs, issues, or problems are communicated to the Site Manager and/or the Health & Nutrition Services Manager. Wash dishes, ensuring sanitation practices are followed. Clean and sanitize daily, all equipment and material used during the day, including stove, refrigerator, cabinets, food carts, tables, chairs, etc. Support classrooms during kitchen downtime as needed and requested by the supervisor. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED
High school Diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 6 months of experience working in a kitchen or food service setting. Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) effectively and appropriately with others. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Must be reliable and prompt. Must be able to relate well with young children.
