This role helps maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen while supporting cooks and restaurant staff during busy service periods. Common Job Roles Kitchen Utility Worker Kitchen Utility Associate Kitchen Support Worker Restaurant Utility Worker Back-of-House Utility Associate Key Responsibilities Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, preparation, storage, and service areas Assist with basic food preparation and ingredient organization Support cooks and kitchen staff with food preparation and order assembly Restock ingredients, beverages, packaging, cleaning supplies, and kitchen materials Receive, organize, and store food and supply deliveries Label, rotate, and properly store food products according to food safety procedures Clean and sanitize workstations, floors, equipment, and food preparation surfaces Remove trash and maintain clean waste disposal areas Assist with opening, closing, and general kitchen duties Follow food safety, sanitation, hygiene, and workplace safety procedures Support the kitchen team during busy service periods Perform additional utility and kitchen support duties assigned by management Requirements Previous restaurant, kitchen, food service, or hospitality experience is an asset but not required Basic knowledge of kitchen cleanliness and food safety practices Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Strong teamwork and communication skills Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn Ability to stand for extended periods and lift, carry, and move moderate loads safely Preferred Skills Experience in restaurant or commercial kitchen operations Familiarity with dishwashing and commercial kitchen equipment Knowledge of sanitation and safe food-handling practices Strong organization and time management skills Ability to multitask and prioritize during busy periods Positive attitude and strong work ethic About the Company Lula Southern Cookhouse operates in the restaurant and food service industry, providing Southern-inspired dining experiences in a welcoming environment.
