Job location is 705 E Anderson St, Savannah, GA 31401 Join our vibrant team as a Savannah Classical Student Dining Kitchen Help and become a vital part of creating a welcoming, efficient, and safe dining environment for students. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on culinary and food service experience while supporting meal preparation, food safety, and kitchen operations. If you're passionate about food, eager to learn kitchen skills, and committed to maintaining high standards, this role is perfect for you! You will work alongside experienced kitchen staff to ensure that every meal is prepared with care, safety, and efficiency in mind. Duties Assist with food preparation including slicing, chopping, and assembling ingredients following recipe guidelines and safety standards Support meal assembly and plating to ensure timely service during busy dining hours Operate basic kitchen equipment such as mixers, ovens, and food processors safely and efficiently Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen by cleaning workstations, utensils, and equipment regularly in accordance with health regulations Follow food handling procedures to ensure proper storage, temperature control, and sanitation of ingredients and prepared foods Aid in menu planning efforts by organizing ingredients and preparing components for daily meals Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate tasks, report issues, and ensure smooth operation of the dietary department Skills Previous dietary department or dietary aide experience preferred but not required; eagerness to learn is valued! Strong food preparation skills including slicing techniques, knife skills, and recipe adherence Knowledge of food safety management practices and safety standards in production environments Experience with food handling, cleaning protocols, and operating kitchen equipment such as mixers or ovens Familiarity with restaurant or catering environments enhances your ability to adapt quickly in a busy kitchen setting Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and support a positive work environment Ability to follow detailed instructions accurately while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety This role offers an engaging environment where you can develop culinary expertise, contribute meaningfully to student well-being, and gain valuable experience in the food industry.
