SCOPE OF THE POSITION
: The Cook for the Friendly Kitchen is responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious meals for the Burlington community. This role ensures all food safety standards are met, maintains a clean and organized kitchen, and supports the overall mission of The Salvation Army through quality service and interaction with clients, volunteers, and staff. Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
:
+ Plan and prepare weekly and monthly menus that meet nutritional guidelines and provide variety.
+ Prepare, cook, and serve balanced meals in accordance with established schedules.
+ Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the kitchen, dining area, and equipment.
+ Clean and sanitize tables, chairs, floors, and kitchen surfaces after each meal service.
+ Store and rotate food and supplies, maintaining accurate inventory levels.
+ Follow all standard food safety and sanitation procedures at all times.
+ Monitor and report equipment issues or safety concerns to Corps Officers promptly.
+ Ensure all necessary certifications and permits are maintained in compliance with city and state regulations.
+ Interact respectfully and professionally with clients, volunteers, and staff.
+ Represent The Salvation Army's mission and values in all interactions.
+ Recognize and refer individuals with spiritual needs to the Corps Officers. Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
+ High School diploma or GED
+ Current Serve Safe certificate or willing to acquire within 60 days
