Maintains a presence with proper apparel and equipment. Provides for safety of the public by maintaining an alert and ready position while scanning and is prepared to act in an emergency Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in identified zones. Understands and able to demonstrate proper water safety principles. Provides necessary emergency response care and treatment. Follows proper Lifeguard change procedures. Enforces rules in a polite, firm, consistent manner Follows and enforces the policies and procedures outlined in the Aquatics Manual. Has knowledge of the emergency action plan. Provides necessary saves, first aid and/or CPR and AED use according to established procedures.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reports issues to Head Guard, and assists in documenting issues. Logs appropriate training and in-service hours Reports hazards or issues to Head Guard/Aquatics Coordinator Assists with maintenance, cleaning and general care of facility, pool deck and equipment. Ensures

prevention and safety protocols are followed, including, but not limited to, sanitizing equipment, social distancing, and mask wearing as required. Assists with pool activities and concession stand when needed. Performs other related duties as assigned. Other Qualifications Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with city employees, department professionals, staff, customers and the general public. Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed. Ability to understand, follow and perform duties as required of emergency action plan and to swim 500 yards. Maintain a positive behavior and professional demeanor at all times; address resident and customer concerns in a helpful, courteous manner. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Ability to interact with a diverse group of individuals. Ability to comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures, and report all unsafe activities or conditions to supervisor.
