JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Environmental Services Manager or designated supervisor, the Environmental Services Aide I performs routine housekeeping, cleaning, disinfecting, waste removal, and environmental services duties throughout Acacia Creek. The position helps maintain a clean, sanitary, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, guests, visitors, and employees and performs assigned duties in accordance with established policies, procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Receives and follows written and verbal housekeeping schedules, assignments, and instructions from the Environmental Services Manager or designated supervisor. Cleans and disinfects assigned resident rooms, apartments, common areas, offices, restrooms, dining areas, nursing stations, hallways, entrances, and other designated areas. Cleans resident apartments and rooms, including bathrooms, sinks, showers/tubs, toilets, counters, walls, mirrors, windowsills, doors, closets, dressers, nightstands, telephones, and other assigned surfaces. Dusts, sweeps, mops, vacuums, scrubs, and performs other routine floor and surface-cleaning duties. Cleans and disinfects high-touch surfaces and other areas according to established infection prevention and environmental cleaning procedures. Removes trash and waste from resident rooms, apartments, offices, and common areas; cleans waste containers and replaces liners as appropriate. Handles and disposes of infectious and potentially hazardous waste safely and properly in accordance with established procedures. Cleans and prepares guestroom apartments and other designated spaces following guest or resident departure. Responds promptly to spills, accidents, emergencies, and other environmental service needs and cleans affected areas as directed. Properly cleans biohazard or bodily-fluid spills using required personal protective equipment and established procedures and immediately reports significant hazards or incidents to the supervisor. Places appropriate wet-floor or caution signs before wet mopping and whenever floors or other conditions present a slip hazard. Uses cleaning chemicals and disinfectants in accordance with product labels, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), training, and established Acacia Creek procedures. Maintains environmental services carts, equipment, closets, and supply areas in a clean, organized, secure, and safe condition. Uses cleaning equipment and supplies properly and reports malfunctioning, damaged, or unsafe equipment to the supervisor. Maintains adequate supplies in assigned work areas and reports supply needs to the supervisor. Reports facility maintenance concerns, safety hazards, damaged property, unusual conditions, or other issues requiring attention. Follows all infection prevention, workplace safety, OSHA, and Acacia Creek policies and procedures applicable to the position. Uses appropriate personal protective equipment and follows Standard Precautions when required. Maintains a professional and courteous relationship with residents, families, guests, visitors, volunteers, coworkers, supervisors, and other departments. Protects resident privacy, dignity, personal property, and confidentiality at all times. Responds appropriately to resident, guest, and staff requests and directs concerns to the appropriate supervisor or department. Participates in emergency response and environmental cleanup activities as assigned. Maintains regular and reliable attendance. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Consistently performs cleaning and environmental services duties to established quality standards. Regularly identifies and reports facility, equipment, supply, and safety issues requiring management attention. Seeks additional work or assignments when scheduled duties are completed. Takes pride in maintaining clean, sanitary, orderly, and safe resident and work environments. Follows instructions, policies, procedures, and established work practices. Demonstrates dependability, punctuality, professionalism, and a positive attitude. Works cooperatively with coworkers, supervisors, residents, and other departments. Maintains flexibility to cover different shifts, areas, or schedules as operational needs require. Maintains confidentiality of resident, employee, and organizational information.

SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE

Previous housekeeping, janitorial, environmental services, healthcare, hospitality, senior living, or institutional cleaning experience is preferred. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions from a supervisor or manager. Ability to learn and properly use cleaning chemicals, equipment, supplies, and infection-control procedures. Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team. Ability to prioritize assigned duties and manage time effectively. Ability to recognize and report unsafe conditions, equipment problems, spills, hazards, and maintenance concerns. Ability to interact respectfully and professionally with residents, families, visitors, and staff. Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect resident privacy and dignity. Ability to work safely around cleaning chemicals, bodily fluids, waste, and other environmental hazards while following required precautions. Ability to read, speak, and write English sufficiently to understand work instructions, safety information, SDS information, policies, and procedures. Schedules, assignments, and work locations are subject to change based on the needs of Acacia Creek.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS/LICENSES/CERTIFICATES

Any combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position is acceptable. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous environmental services, housekeeping, janitorial, healthcare, senior living, or related experience preferred. Required training and certifications will be completed as directed by Acacia Creek and applicable regulatory requirements.
