Monitors and promotes a safe environment during care and maintenance of equipment and supplies. Care, cleaning, use, and storage of Housekeeping equipment. Buffing machine Mops - dry or wet Vacuum cleaner Shampoo machine Floor machine Ladder/step stools Setting up cleaning carts. 1. Perform day-to-day weekly and monthly housekeeping functions as assigned. Cleaning resident/patient rooms, surgery, offices and all other facilities in the hospital, clinic, and long term care, including walls and windows. Understand the standards for frequency of cleaning these areas. Be informed on protocols for all the following: Floor and carpet cleaning. General cleaning for all departments Isolation Infection control Chemicals Trash and waste Blood spill kits Equipment use Washing beds Willing to learn to operate and maintain department equipment. Attend departmental meetings and inservice education. Maintains good relationship with residents, patients, visitors, physicians and personnel. Demonstrates complete knowledge of infection control and universal precautions, actively support and promotes adherence to the policies and procedures as outlined in the department manuals. Ensures that supplies are maintained according to the established guidelines and monitors usage in determining need for a change in established levels. Does not abuse or take advantage of sick time or personnel days off, rarely sick or absent from work due to health reasons. Always provides proper and advance notification for absences and tardiness. When requested is willing to adjust personal schedule in order to complete workload in view of increased patient activity, staffing reduction or in preparation for special inspection. Complies with dress code. Ensures that all equipment necessary for resident/patient care is in proper working condition. Assure that work/assignment areas are clean and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc. are properly stored at all times, as well as before leaving such areas for breaks, mealtimes, and at the end of the workday.
Education Licensure Certification Required:
High school graduate or equivalent. CPR required within 90 days of employment at the hospital. Current CPR certification must be kept on file.
Experience Required:
Housekeeping experience preferred but not necessary. Willing to train on the job.
Skills Required:
Must have the ability for written or oral communications and interpersonal skills. Capable of mature and independent judgment.
Physical Requirements:
Excellent physical stamina required, involves walking, standing, bending and stretching. Must lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. or more. The employee is frequently required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects or controls.
