Environmental Services Director Make a Difference Every Day—One Clean and Comfortable Space at a Time! Viva Senior Living is looking for a dependable, caring, and hardworking Housekeeper to join our team at our 56-bed memory care community in Liverpool, NY ! As a Housekeeper, you play an important role in creating a clean, safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for residents living with dementia. This position is about more than cleaning—it's about helping create a place our residents are proud to call home. What You'll Do As a Housekeeper, you will help maintain a clean, safe, and inviting community for our residents, families, and team members.
Responsibilities include:
Clean and maintain assigned resident rooms, bathrooms, and common areas. Dust, vacuum, sweep, mop, and perform general cleaning duties throughout the community. Clean and sanitize resident bathrooms, including sinks, tubs, showers, and toilets. Replenish bathroom supplies such as toilet tissue, facial tissue, soap, and other necessary paper goods. Empty wastebaskets and trash receptacles throughout assigned areas. Clean and maintain public areas and common spaces to ensure they remain welcoming and presentable. Perform floor care and furniture cleaning, including vacuuming, buffing, and other assigned duties. Clean windows and other surfaces as assigned. Observe resident rooms and community areas and report maintenance or safety concerns, such as burned-out light bulbs, unsecured rugs, or other potential hazards. Check resident rooms for food items that may require disposal in accordance with community policies. Follow all company policies, safety procedures, infection control practices, and regulatory requirements. Maintain a respectful and professional approach when interacting with residents, families, visitors, and fellow team members. Assist during emergency situations, including resident evacuation when necessary. Participate in required emergency drills, training, and other assigned programs. Perform other duties as assigned by the Environmental Services Director, Executive Director, or Supervisor. Qualifications include:
Previous housekeeping, environmental services, hospitality, healthcare, or senior living experience is a plus—but we welcome individuals who are dependable and willing to learn! Experience working in senior living, healthcare, or memory care is helpful but not required. Ability to work independently while also being a supportive member of the team. A caring, respectful, and compassionate approach when working with seniors, including individuals living with dementia. Ability to communicate effectively and follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness. Reliable attendance and the ability to work assigned shifts. Willingness to assist during emergency situations or staffing needs when necessary. Physical Requirements Candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
This may include:
Moving throughout the community during the workday. Standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and performing repetitive cleaning tasks. Pushing, pulling, moving, lifting, or carrying up to 25 pounds. Working with and around elderly residents, including individuals who may be ill, disabled, emotionally upset, or occasionally agitated. Assisting with emergency procedures and resident evacuation when necessary.
