Job Description

Job Overview The Putney Place, home to an early education center and cafe is seeking a dedicated and energetic custodian to join our team and help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment! As a custodian, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our facilities are thoroughly cleaned, well-maintained, and welcoming for students and families, cafe patrons, and staff alike. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where attention to detail, reliability, and a strong work ethic are highly valued. This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday, 2:00PM-7:00PM, starting hourly pay is $16.00/hour. Applicants must pass a full background check and be trained and certified as a mandated reporter prior to starting date. Responsibilities Perform thorough cleaning of all areas including school and classrooms, restrooms, kitchen, lobby, offices, and cafe using appropriate cleaning tools and supplies that are provided Conduct routine floor care activities such as sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, and carpet cleaning Handle janitorial duties including trash/recycling removal, restocking supplies, and disinfecting surfaces to uphold health standards and codes Wash, dry, fold and organize laundry for classrooms and kitchen Support kitchen staff with cleaning and dishwashing as needed Report any repairs or safety hazards promptly Maintain overall cleanliness of building to ensure a consistently tidy environment Experience in custodial work and knowledge of commercial cleaning procedures highly preferred Physical stamina to perform manual tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods required Reliable work ethic with the ability to follow instructions independently is a must Join us in creating a clean and welcoming space where everyone feels comfortable!
