Edibles Kitchen Manager Golden Grail Group Portland, OR Job Details Full-time $60,000 - $62,000 a year 1 hour ago Qualifications Food preparation equipment operation Full Job Description Edibles Kitchen Manager Position Summary The Edibles Kitchen Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the edibles production department, ensuring products are produced safely, consistently, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards and applicable regulatory requirements. This position provides direct leadership to kitchen employees and is accountable for production planning, workflow, product quality, inventory accuracy, compliance, employee performance, and the timely completion of production needs. The Kitchen Manager is expected to proactively identify and resolve operational issues while maintaining clear communication with Operations and other departments. Key Responsibilities Production Management Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily and weekly edibles production activities based on production schedules, forecasts, inventory levels, and company priorities. Ensure production is completed accurately and within expected turnaround times. Monitor production progress throughout the day and adjust staffing, workflow, or priorities as needed. Maintain efficient production practices and identify opportunities to improve throughput, reduce downtime, and minimize waste. Coordinate production needs with packaging, warehouse, purchasing, and other departments as necessary. Ensure adequate finished goods and work-in-process inventory is maintained to support business needs and prevent avoidable stockouts. Team Leadership & Performance Provide direct supervision, coaching, and day-to-day leadership to kitchen employees. Clearly communicate production expectations, priorities, and responsibilities to the team. Train employees on recipes, equipment, SOPs, safety requirements, quality standards, and production processes. Monitor employee productivity, attendance, quality of work, and adherence to company procedures. Provide real-time coaching and address performance concerns promptly. Escalate recurring performance, attendance, conduct, or staffing concerns to management and HR when appropriate. Help maintain appropriate staffing levels and participate in hiring, onboarding, training, and performance reviews. Quality & Product Consistency Ensure products are manufactured according to approved recipes, formulations, specifications, and established procedures. Maintain consistency in product quality, potency, appearance, weight, flavor, and other applicable product standards. Oversee quality control throughout the production process and ensure issues are identified before products move to the next stage. Investigate production errors, product defects, or inconsistencies and implement corrective actions when needed. Maintain accurate production documentation and batch records. Inventory & METRC Management Maintain accurate inventory records for cannabis materials, work-in-process products, finished goods, ingredients, and other production materials. Ensure METRC activities associated with kitchen production are completed accurately and in a timely manner. Conduct regular inventory reviews and reconciliations to identify discrepancies, aging inventory, waste, or inaccurate records. Ensure unusable or wasted product is properly identified, documented, and processed according to company procedures and regulatory requirements. Communicate inventory concerns that could affect production schedules or product availability. Forecasting & Production Planning Regularly review forecasts, sales trends, inventory levels, and production needs to determine appropriate production quantities. Adjust production planning based on changes in demand, inventory, priorities, or available resources. Communicate potential shortages, overproduction, capacity constraints, or production delays before they negatively impact operations. Partner with Operations and other departments to maintain appropriate inventory levels and production cadence. Compliance & Food Safety Ensure kitchen operations comply with applicable OLCC, ODA, METRC, food safety, workplace safety, and company requirements. Ensure employees follow sanitation, hygiene, food handling, allergen, cleaning, and safety procedures. Maintain production areas in a clean, organized, inspection-ready condition. Ensure required production, sanitation, compliance, and traceability records are completed accurately. Immediately escalate significant compliance, safety, food quality, or product concerns to management. Equipment & Facility Oversight Ensure kitchen equipment is properly used, cleaned, maintained, and stored. Identify equipment or facility issues that may affect production, safety, or product quality. Coordinate or escalate maintenance and repair needs as appropriate. Ensure production areas and storage spaces remain organized and operationally efficient. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, workflow, product consistency, documentation, and departmental processes. Support the development and implementation of SOPs and standardized production procedures. Monitor production performance and use operational data to identify recurring issues or improvement opportunities. Maintain improvements once implemented and ensure new processes become part of the department's standard workflow. Communication & Accountability Provide regular updates to Operations regarding production status, inventory concerns, staffing issues, delays, quality concerns, and other significant departmental matters. Proactively communicate problems and proposed solutions rather than waiting for issues to escalate. Collaborate effectively with Packaging, Warehouse, Purchasing, Compliance, Operations, and other departments. Take ownership of kitchen operations and ensure established processes continue to function effectively without requiring routine direct intervention from senior management. Qualifications Previous experience in food production, commercial kitchens, manufacturing, cannabis production, or a related environment preferred. Previous supervisory or management experience preferred. Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple production priorities and deadlines. Strong attention to detail and commitment to product consistency and quality. Ability to coach employees and hold team members accountable to established expectations. Comfortable working with production records, inventory systems, spreadsheets, and operational data. Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and regulated manufacturing practices preferred. Cannabis industry, METRC, OLCC, and/or ODA experience preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to work for extended periods in a commercial production environment. Ability to stand, bend, reach, and perform repetitive production activities as required. Ability to safely operate or work around commercial kitchen and production equipment. Ability to lift and move materials consistent with the physical requirements established for the position. Overall Position Expectation The Edibles Kitchen Manager is expected to operate as the owner of the day-to-day kitchen function. Success in this position means maintaining a safe and compliant department, accurately planning production, keeping inventory records current, developing and holding the team accountable, consistently meeting production needs, and proactively addressing problems before they require intervention from senior Operations leadership.
