Position Overview:

Pop Stars play an important role in creating a fun atmosphere at Elk City Popcorn Company because greeting visitors with hospitality makes a great first impression. Pop Stars make our customers feel welcome and help them with selections. They assemble gift baskets and communicate replenishment needs to the popping crew. They also keep the shop always looking its best.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greeting each visitor upon their entry into the shop
• Striving for familiarity and knowledge of the products in our shop and advising customers of any ingredient precautions when asked
• Maintaining an immaculate workspace
• Offering samples and making suggestions to assist in making popcorn and snack selections
• Scooping popcorn, and otherwise handling consumables while observing safe food handling techniques
• Handling payment transactions responsibly, with accuracy and integrity
• Maintaining cash drawer and preparing for bank deposit
• Unloading shipment trucks and putting away stock and merchandise
• Preparing and packaging gift baskets or other specialty orders
• Following Opening and Closing checklists
• Helping any new Popcorn Professionals feel welcome

Physical and Environmental Considerations:

Physical

• Lifting up to 50lbs (frequently)
• Stocking or retrieving merchandise and supplies from overhead (frequently)
• Stocking or retrieving merchandise and supplies from down low by crouching/stooping/crawling (frequently)
• Standing and walking or otherwise maneuvering around the shop for the duration of the shift (frequently)
• Climbing a ladder (regularly) Environmental
• Exposure to significant variations in temperature
• Exposure to varying noise levels created by the popping equipment
• Exposure to various cleaning chemicals and procedures

Education, Experience, and Required Certifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent, completed or in progress
• Basic cash handling skills
• WV / Kanawha County food handler's permit within 14 days of hire
• Valid WV Drivers' license (if interested in driving/delivery roles) eoe

Pay:

From $15.00 per hour
