Job Description

Job Summary Full-time school monitors assist in the duties of pupil, supervision and do related work as required for the care of children transported on an assigned route from home to school and school to home. Generally, the district's monitors are full-time employees, across 10 months (September to June). During the school year, monitors for the transportation department have an option of assignments within the school building for additional income. Experience with children is desirable.
Job Qualifications Applicants must:
Able to work 5:15 am to 9:00 am and 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm to be available to fulfill routing needs. (These hours are approximate until a specific route assignment occurs.) Be subject to fingerprinting requirements, Have a commitment to safety and reliability.
PAY:
Starting pay for applicants is minimum wage. Pay for applicants with prior experience working with students/children will be considered.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
(Illustrative only) Assists students on and off buses and supervises them during transportation to and from schools; Maintains order in school areas, as needed; Oversees students on premises before and after school; May render basic first aid; Issues supplies and equipment to support successful student management; Helps children with backpacks or apparel; May perform simple clerical duties under close supervision.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND ATTRIBUTES
Good general intelligence; Ability to get along well with children and command their respect; Some knowledge of first aid methods; Clerical aptitude; Neat personal appearance; Understanding of how routines and consistency support students; Effective observation skills; Tact and courtesy; Good judgment.
