POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Regional Manager, the Sports Coordinator will coordinate and direct the sports league programming for all ASES students as allowed with the grant funding and in accordance with ASES grants guidelines and the BGCGSD expectations. Lead, inspire, train, and assess all coaches, volunteers, and program staff who support the sports leagues. Act as liaison between the Club and the school locations regarding the ASES sports offerings. Oversee the coordination of sports programming offered to all ASES students and any other specialty programs available to the students through the
BGCGSD. 1. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures programs and activities adhere to current health and safety protocols. Will assist in sports leagues for the organization this includes South and North County. Be aware of current safety protocols that are being adhered to: adults and youth are wearing face coverings, social distancing, frequent hand washing, etc. Plan, implement, supervise, and coordinate the Youth Sports League; promotes interest and participation through Clubs and schools, public relations, and informational programs. Supervise the sports league activities whether in a gym or outside on a field. Manage marketing deadlines, registration day, and league logistics. Conduct assessment clinics; build balanced teams based upon age, experience, and assessments. Schedule games, practices, and picture day; order uniforms, awards, and equipment while operating within a specific budget. Ensure that all sporting equipment and supplies are purchased in a timely manner and are in good working condition. Keep things secure and accounted for. Process registration forms; accept fees; maintain accurate and detailed financial records and oversee expenditures. Proficiently operates computer and software programs in the design and promotion of press releases, flyers, social media, and printed schedules. Recruit and select referees and volunteer coaches; notify Site Regional Manager to ensure volunteer paperwork and the background clearance is complete. Recognize and react quickly to problems-arguing, fighting, horseplay, and stop the undesirable activity quickly. Mediate concerns and issues with coaches, parents, and referees. Develop a positive rapport with youth, parents, coaches, community members, and staff. Ensure the safety of participants by adhering to youth sports league-best practices and BGCGSD established policies. 2.
SAFETY & WELLNESS
Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all youth, staff, and visitors by consistently enforcing safety protocols and organizational policies. Be proactive in identifying and reporting any safety concerns or maintenance requirements to ensure a safe working environment for everyone. Participate in safety drills and contribute to ongoing risk assessment and emergency preparedness efforts. Contribute to the ongoing improvement of Club safety and wellness policies and procedures across the Club.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 18 years of age with a High School diploma or GED required; BA in recreation or related discipline preferred. A minimum of 48 units of college curriculum or completion of the Classroom Assistant Proficiency Exam (CAPE/ HQIA) required. Must have a minimum of two years related work experience with sports league planning and execution,organizing and/or monitoring sports related activities, working with volunteers, referees, and program staff. Youth coaching experience required; ability to communicate team concepts and sport techniques to individuals/groups. Ability to effectively communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, with youth, parents, staff, volunteers, and community partners displaying tact, maturity and flexibility. Must be self-motivated and goal oriented; demonstrate strong leadership and team building; work well independently. Proficiency with computers and office equipment. Experience using a variety of office software, such as email, scheduling, word processing and spreadsheet programs including database management. Excellent communication skills, including presentations and speaking to groups; strong leadership, planning, organization, customer service experience. Proven use of independent judgment and personal initiative and accountability; experience managing conflict. Knowledge of basic Public Relations/Customer Services principles and techniques
Special Conditions of Employment:
Successful completion of pre-employment background check and drug screen as a condition of employment. Clear TB test as required by school district. Successful Classroom Assistant Proficiency Exam (CAPE) CPR & First Aid Certification (we will train) Must be able to complete HR Training for volunteers, coaches, and referees.
