We are an academic art space rooted in conceptual practice. For more than 15 years, ARTifact has brought art, anthropology, history, storytelling, and making together in a tiny clubhouse in San Francisco. Our classes are intimate, imaginative, highly hands-on, and unlike traditional children's art classes. We're looking for someone who is genuinely excited by both kids and making —an artist, designer, educator, maker, performer, or other creatively minded person who also happens to be wonderful with kids. This is an in-person teaching position. You'll assist and co-lead small classes using ARTifact's existing curriculum, help prepare and reset the studio, work across a wide range of materials, and become part of the particular creative world we've built here. You do not need to be a traditional art teacher. You do need to be curious, capable, dependable, comfortable leading a room, and excited to make things with your hands. Experience working with children is important, but this is not a childcare position. Our team is made up of professional adults with creative and educational practices of their own, and we're looking for someone who sees working with young people as meaningful creative work. We're especially interested in someone who: Has a strong creative practice or creative background Is warm, engaging, and confident with children Can comfortably lead a small group Is interested in art, design, history, material culture, storytelling, or the humanities Enjoys working across many different materials and processes Is reliable, organized, flexible, and willing to jump in Can commit to a consistent weekly teaching schedule Lives in or can reliably commute to San Francisco This is an in-person position at our Cow Hollow studio in San Francisco.
