Job Description

Greater Middleton Parks and Recreation District announces the following open position:
Sports Coordinator Job Description:
Provides support for recreation & sport programs Knowledge of rules & play techniques of general sport programs/events Work with the public on use & safety of the Community Center & ball fields Work with the public to schedule or reserve sporting events Capable of setting up tables, chairs, sporting equipment, etc. Coordinate daily with the CC Superintendent Assists in planning & coordinating sporting events & activities Provide direction to referees, coaches & volunteers Marketing, promoting, & creating flyers for upcoming programs Collects feedback from participants & parents to improve programs Ensures planning & alignment of events fall within budget constraints Basic knowledge of computers, email & forms Assists with registration for upcoming events Tracking Receipts & efficient recordkeeping required Maintain confidential records when handling sensitive documents Attend associated conferences, classes, meetings, & webinars Network w/the public, representing GMPRD respectfully at local events Knowledge of basic first aid, ensure safety of patrons & grounds at events Excellent Customer Service Skills required Must be able to communicate well - written & orally Participate in staff meetings and keep the entire organization well informed Be a team player and also work well independently Must have time management & organizational skills Conflict resolution & problem-solving skills needed to resolve issues Can do, flexible & positive attitude is a must Ability to establish & maintain positive working relationships w/public Perform other related duties as assigned or needed Ability to work a flexible work schedule which will include some evenings & Saturdays, when authorized by your supervisor Maintain fields for games, run paint machine for rec programs Clean, organize, properly store, and maintain sports equipment Assist w/grant writing research, budget, and deadlines Various miscellaneous duties as assigned
Experience:
Experience with sports knowledge, recreation, and/or events preferred. High school diploma or GED equivalent. Must be at minimum 18 years of age. Must have a valid Idaho driver's license. Must be able to pass a drug test and background check. CPR/First Aid certification is required, and can be obtained after hire within 60 days. Bilingual is a plus, but not required.

Schedule:
Monday thru Friday, flexible schedule to accommodate office time, oversee games & tournaments, & scheduling, etc . Daily schedule will vary based on need and events. Evenings and/or Saturdays will be required, for scheduled events. Full-Time year round, hourly position, scheduled up to 40 hours per week.
Essential Physical Abilities:
Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing, with or without reasonable accommodations that permits the employee to discern and dispense verbal instructions and communicate effectively with others in person, or via telephone. Sufficient visual acuity, with or without reasonable accommodations which permits the employee to comprehend and prepare written material and instructions; and react to physical activities. Must be able to tolerate possible exposure to dust, pollen, infectious disease, & rude patrons. Work performed inside and outside, in all weather conditions. Sufficient manual dexterity that permits the employee to safely operate a motor vehicle and possible other park maintenance equipment, i.e., UTV's, etc. Some local travel may be required using GMPRD's vehicles or your own personal vehicle. Sufficient body flexibility, agility, strength, physical reflexes and stamina to participate in recreational needs. Capable of working in all weather conditions. Lift and/or move equipment weighing up to 25-50 pounds and work in a recreational environment, which involve muscular strain, such as walking, standing, stooping, bending, reaching, carrying, lifting, hearing, and seeing. Tolerate various noise levels from events and sport tournaments. Sufficient mental capability to utilize memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, and guided problem solving.
Must have the ability to:
Be on call, as needed for occasional emergency situations, to lock & unlock buildings, or fill in for an absentee employee when necessary.
