This role leads assigned programs that are of interest and meaning to our residents to enhance their lives and exceed their active aging lifestyle expectations.
Qualifications Required:
Associate degree in recreation or related field preferred OR 3-5 years full-time experience working with adult recreation. Basic knowledge of Alzheimer's Disease and related Dementia's required. Experience and knowledge in Senior Living, including Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Enhanced Assisted Living preferred. Working knowledge of computers including Excel, Word, and MS Office. Compassion for and desire to work with the elderly. Must possess valid driver's license. First Aid Certified.
Responsibilities:
Leads assigned activity programs. Offers adequate and diversified recreational activities to residents with sufficient supervision for each activity. Develops programs for residents including, if applicable, programs designed for residents confined to their rooms. Engages and motivates residents resulting in program participation. Informs residents of upcoming activities and maintains a current schedule of events on the bulletin board. Greets new residents making a special effort to include and engage them in activities and introduce them to others in the community with similar interests and backgrounds. Assists in planning parties and activities as well as decorating the community according to the season and/or holiday throughout the year as well as planning monthly birthday parties to honor residents. Supports and actively participates in the community's census building initiatives. Maintains records of all activities, resident participation levels and acceptance of each activity by residents as required by state law. Assists Activity Director in enlisting the services of volunteers to aid the activities program. Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights. Maintains a valid driver's license for car travel as needed. May drive company vehicle from community to social and other various destinations (only if required by community). Attend all required in-service trainings. Be responsible for your own safety, have understanding and comply with all Willow Ridge safety practices, policies and procedures. Maintaining an awareness of safety hazards and unsafe practices and reporting them immediately to the appropriate supervisors when identified. Actively participate in any injury/accident investigation applicable to your position. Be a member of, on a rotating basis, the community's Safety Committee that include attending meetings and participating in reviewing community safety compliance and reviewing injury and accident investigations. participate in annual safety training in-services. Be responsible for your own safety, understanding and complying with all Willow Ridge safety practices, policies, and procedures. Maintaining an awareness of safety hazards and unsafe practices and reporting them immediately to the appropriate supervisors when identified. Actively participate in any injury/accident investigation applicable to your position Serve, on a rotating basis, as a member of the community's Safety Committee, which includes attending meetings, reviewing safety compliance, and participating in injury and accident investigations. Participate in annual safety training and In-services. Performs all other duties as needed or requested by supervisor.
Leadership:
Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work independently and make decisions. Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented. Must be able to work well under pressure, to resolve conflicts, to prioritize tasks, and follow through with ideas. Ability to speak intelligently about Willow Ridge and of assisted living programs. Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding residents, staff, and the community. Maintain flexible work schedule to be available to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Availability by phone or page 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergencies. Follow The Willow Ridge Way and Willow Ridge Senior Living policies and procedures.
Physical/Sensory Requirements:
Ability to exert 20-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Additional physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, bending, twisting and generally all movement associated with resident care. Travel frequently by bus or car. Must be in full compliance with all regulatory required vaccinations (including COVID- 19, MMR, etc.).
