Job Description
Position Summary The Activities Assistant helps plan, organize, and lead engaging recreational, social, educational, and therapeutic activities that enhance the quality of life for residents. This role encourages resident participation, promotes independence, and helps create a positive, welcoming environment while ensuring activities meet residents' physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Full Time includes weekends Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist with planning and implementing daily, weekly, and monthly activity programs. Lead group activities such as games, crafts, music, exercise, movies, bingo, and special events. Provide one-on-one visits and activities for residents unable to participate in group programs. Encourage resident participation while respecting individual preferences and abilities. Help decorate the facility for holidays, birthdays, and special occasions. Assist with community outings and special events as needed. Transport residents safely to and from activity areas using wheelchairs or other mobility devices when appropriate. Set up, clean up, and maintain activity rooms and supplies. Document resident attendance and participation according to facility policy. Observe residents during activities and report changes in mood, behavior, or condition to nursing staff. Work collaboratively with nursing, therapy, dietary, social services, and other departments to provide meaningful resident experiences. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized activity environment. Follow all infection control, HIPAA, resident rights, and safety policies. Qualifications Previous experience in long-term care, senior living, recreation, customer service, or activities preferred. Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic personality. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Creative, energetic, and dependable. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and assist with pushing wheelchairs and setting up activity equipment. Preferred Skills Experience working with individuals living with dementia or Alzheimer's disease. Musical, artistic, or recreational talents are a plus. CPR certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
